1. Introduction
ScrollLecture is an AI-powered study app that converts your lecture materials into swipeable study cards. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
2. Information We Collect
Lecture Content: All content you upload to ScrollLecture — including PDFs, photos, and pasted text — is sent to our server solely for AI processing. The server generates study cards from your content and returns the results to your device. We do not permanently store your uploaded materials on our servers after processing is complete.
Local Storage: Generated study cards, subjects, progress data, and user preferences are stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
No Account Required: ScrollLecture does not require account creation, sign-in, or any personal identifiers such as your name or email address.
Device Permissions: Camera and photo library access are optional permissions requested solely for uploading lecture materials. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
3. Analytics
ScrollLecture uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-friendly analytics. TelemetryDeck does not collect personal data, device identifiers, or IP addresses. It provides only aggregate, anonymized usage statistics (such as how many users completed onboarding) to help us improve the app. No individual user can be identified through this data.
ScrollLecture does not use any other third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and do not collect IDFAs.
4. Subscription & Payment Data
ScrollLecture offers premium features through auto-renewable subscriptions via Apple's App Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription verification. RevenueCat uses anonymous app user IDs and transaction data to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat provides the same or equivalent level of data protection as outlined in this policy.
We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data to third parties. The only third parties that receive any information are:
Apple — for processing App Store transactions.
RevenueCat — for anonymous subscription verification.
TelemetryDeck — for anonymous, aggregated analytics.
Google (Gemini AI) — your lecture content is sent for AI processing to generate study cards. Content is not stored by Google after processing.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Locally stored content (study cards, subjects, progress) remains on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app. Uploaded lecture materials are processed in real-time and not permanently retained on our servers.

7. Data Security
Your locally stored data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption. Data transmitted to our server for AI processing is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
8. Children's Privacy
ScrollLecture is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@scrolllecture.app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
